How does a person even begin to talk about sexual abuse? Especially when men are often trained to not talk about it, “suck it up.” Worse is when the sexual abuse is glamorized as some form of “sexual mentoring.” Even if the physical memories fade, the psychological scarring can be devastating, leaving trauma trapped in our heart and soul. Whether the abuse occurred recently or in the past, memories have a lasting effect that interferes with the way you see the world and relate to the people around you. It has a direct impact on your emotional and relational well-being.
The Men’s Resource Center of West Michigan believes that the psychological trauma of sexual abuse, left untreated, can result in broken relationships and a broken and unsatisfying life. We offer counseling and therapy for sexual abuse survivors in a safe and supportive environment.
